About the Farmer

Florence “Flo” Parsley was born and raised in Tampa, Florida. Her most fond memories from childhood are centered around time spent outside enjoying Florida’s natural wonders with her family. Flo’s pursuit of an equestrian career took her to a small college in Virginia, where she first enjoyed simple living in a small mountain town. She quickly changed majors to Environmental Studies and in these courses realized the importance of contributing to building a resilient community. Her favorite professors were avid gardeners and naturalists and she looked up to their philosophies on life.

After college, Flo moved to Whitefish, Montana where her chosen life path started to take shape. She started a farm apprenticeship at Two Bear Farm and went on to spend three years there learning and continuously being in awe of it all. After renovating a truck camper, Florence and her partner, Arin, spent an adventurous summer in Teton Valley, Idaho living out of the camper and working at Canewater Farm. They returned to Whitefish when Florence received a manager position overseeing vegetable production at a flower farm. While this position didn’t last for the whole summer, Florence learned a lot about running a farm during the few months she was there. She spent the rest of that season part- time on Raven Ridge Farm and at The Farmers Stand.

During all of this time working on farms, Flo knew that one day she would have a farm of her own and often dreamed about and planned what that would look like. Finally, she decided to pursue this dream and began looking for a place to start. Knowing how hard it is to find land and get started farming, Two Bear offered space at their farm for her, and Three P’s Farm was born.

About the Farm

Three P’s Farm is a half acre of diversified vegetables and flowers located outside of the town of Whitefish in Northwest Montana. We are an incubator farm on the larger, Two Bear Farm. An incubator farm program is a situation where experienced farmers supply a new farmer with the land, infrastructure, equipment and mentorship to get their farm business off the ground.

While the farm is not certified organic, we follow organic and regenerative practices. For us that looks like annual soil testing, the addition of amendments, compost and mulch based on those results, and minimal disturbance to the soil. Additionally, we strive to always keep our soil covered wether its with crop residue, mulches or tarps. We use an organic pelletized chicken manure fertilizer at time of planting and as a side dressing when applicable. We do not use any herbicides or pesticides, organic or not. For pests we use physical barriers such as row covers and insect netting to prevent damage to crops. At this time the entire farm is ran on drip irrigation which can be a more efficient and conservative method of irrigating since water is delivered directly to the roots.

Three P’s Farm had it’s first growing season in 2024, and saw a lot of success vending at the Whitefish Farmers Market, selling through Wicked Good Produce to chefs and retail stores, and was a staple at the North Valley Food Bank.
